Often referred to as the ‘Gateway to Southeast Asia’ the Khao San Road area is the first port of call for Bangkok’s backpacking fraternity. This has given the area its own unique culture as savvy Thai’s have developed the area to cater for their thrifty, western needs. Cheap guesthouses, cheap beer bars, replica clothes stands, budget tour agents, tattoo parlours. Khao San Road is the perfect place to experience a unique backpacking lifestyle. If planning to stay in the area the Khao San Road’s Rikka Inn is our recommended Bangkok boutique hotel.
There are a couple of worthwhile Bangkok nightlife spots hidden amongst the noise of international bars and nightclubs in the area. Brick Bar and Gazebo. Brick Bar is located half way down Khao San Road preferred by locals and offers various local bands performing Ska & Reggae music. Gazebo is found just off the corner of Khaosan Road and offers live music in a Moroccan themed rooftop bar.
